What is agent experience (AX)?
Mathias Biilmann introduced the term on January 28, 2025, defining agent experience as “the holistic experience AI agents will have as the user of a product or platform.” Developer experience asks how easy your product is for a person to use; agent experience asks the same about an AI agent acting for that person.
Where it shows up
- Discovery: can an agent find out what your product does and when to use it (your docs, llms.txt)?
- Sign-up: can it get the user to a working account without a maze of steps?
- Install: does the snippet or SDK work the first time, from your docs alone?
- Errors: when something goes wrong, does the message tell the agent how to fix it?
Why it matters for small SaaS
When someone asks Lovable or Cursor to “add a feedback board” or “add a contact form”, the agent picks the approach. If your product is hard for it to install, it may build a rough version itself or choose another service, and you never see the lost customer.
